Well the long awaited summer has finally arrived, and for the next couple of  months we will take a break from the regular routine of parish life. We have had a very busy, challenging and successful year of pastoral and social activities at both St. Agnes and St. John The Baptist. I want to thank all who have given of their time, talent and treasure throughout the year, the many volunteers, staff, and those engaged in various ministries.  As we say farewell to Fr. Joseph this summer, I thank him for his support and assistance these past two years. I also want to recognize the Priests in Residence for their valuable contribution in service to St. Agnes  and St. John the Baptist.

The value of being able to take time to rest from the routine of daily life is not to be underestimated, and is indeed, a blessing in itself. Jesus says to his Apostles in Mark’s Gospel “Let us go off by ourselves to some place where we can be alone and you can rest awhile.”(Mk.31)

Wherever “some place” is for you, visiting with family, travel, sports, etc., I pray that you and your families will have a relaxing and safe summer and return to our regular routine in September, refreshed and renewed. Remember though, “Sunday belongs to the Lord, always.
