As we end the Year of Faith, first proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI, we should reflect on the past year. We’ve been learning about and discussing our Faith, practicing our Faith, and deepening our Faith. But it doesn’t end here. On the contrary – our walk in Faith continues in earnest. How will you continue to grow in faith next year?
Our Giving tree will be going up at the front of the church on the First Sunday of Advent. During the season of Advent, we make an effort to bring about a world of Justice. Through the Giving Tree our parish gives gifts to the residents of Arborstone Enhanced Care; Cloverdale; Elizabeth Fry Society (for Women in Prison); St. Agnes Vincent de Paul Societies, the Nova Scotia Hospital and Birthright , as well as others who ask for assistance from our parish. Please take a moment and pick one or more tags from the Giving Tree. Gifts should be returned unwrapped on or before Sunday, December 15th. Please place them under the tree with the tag from the Giving Tree on them so it will go to the proper organization . For anyone who would prefer, you may donate a $25.00 gift certificate from Walmart rather than a specific item on a tag. On behalf of all who will be Blessed by your generosity, we thank you and wish you Christ’s peace during the season of Advent and a very Blessed Christmas. ……. Annie MacLean .

Oremus (O-rah-müs) Latin for Let Us Pray: Do you find it easy to pray? Is prayer an integral part of your day? Do you hear God’s voice in your daily life and know how to respond accordingly? For most of us prayer becomes a source of frustration as we struggle to calm our minds and find even a few minutes a day to set aside to pray. In our busy lives prayer is seen as a luxury, when in reality it is at the foundation of a healthy spiritual life. The New Evangelization “buzz words” are all about developing a relationship with God through prayer. Oremus gives you that and so much more… A study program that teaches you the essentials of an effective and fruitful prayer life, over the course of eight weeks you will discover how God speaks to you, even in the smallest encounters. Following the Tradition of the Catholic Church and the wisdom of the saints, you will learn how to express yourself to God in prayer, and how to hear his voice.
This study program will help you:
- Become aware of God’s presence in your life
- Discover the simple yet profound steps of Catholic prayer
- Learn how to respond to God and express yourself in prayer
- Discover how to hear God’s voice in Scripture, in your heart, and in ordinary moments.
- Learn how to overcome frustrations, distractions, and dryness in prayer.
- See that desolation and consolation are a normal part of everyone’s walk with God.
- Grow in your relationship with God and those around you
This study program will run once a week for each session; however there will be two sessions available for your convenience. Come and See what Oremus is all about!! All sessions will be held in the St Agnes Room in the Office Area!
