Father John Williams
He was ordained to the priesthood in 1973 and has served in a variety of pastoral appointments within the Archdiocese of Halifax since that time, on the Eastern Shore and in Halifax and Dartmouth. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the School of the Sacred Heart, a private Catholic School in Halifax, a member of the Pastoral Care Team at the Nova Scotia Hospital in Halifax and Vice Chair of the Priests' Council and is Regional Vicar for the Halifax Region of the Archdiocese. He served as Rector of Saint Mary’s Basilica from 1999 until 2005.
In August 2005 he became our pastor here at St. Agnes church.
In addition to his Pastoral duties within the Archdiocese, Fr. Williams has served as a Chaplain to the Canadian Armed Forces in the Primary Reserve since 1983 until his retirement in the fall of 2004. He has served with the 33 Service (Halifax) Battalion, District Chaplain and Area Chaplain, Atlantic Militia Area, and since its creation in 1991, Area Chaplain for Land Force Atlantic Area (LFAA) with the rank of Major.
